Retinol Roundup – Catching a Wrinkle in Time

Y’all, I think that now that I am 1000 years old it is now time for me to begin looking into retinol to preserve this beautiful, glowing face of mine.

Now, I won’t lie, I haven’t had as much time lately to do my proper googles but I have been slowly but surely making my rounds and I have come across some that I like. Enough to make a *drumroll pleeassee* list! (OMG! I know! I love lists too! lol)

So without further ado here are my fave three right now. Please keep in mind that I have combination skin. Oil ONLY in my t-zone and I have one! ONE! beginning of a wrinkle that I am trying to stop in its tracks.

1.) Shani Darden Skin Care RETINOL REFORM®

Why am I so excited for face serum?

So I have been trolling my second favorite social media site, Twitter, for good recommendations and I came across this. One of the girls in the thread said that this it her favorite retinol because it was light and not as strong as some of the other retinols out there. It is good for combo skin and moisturizing as well. The website shows pics of girls will two week, as well as, lasting results. It is supposed to help with blemishes, dark spots, AND fine lines. Please also note that it won the Allure Beauty award for the year as well as a Luxury Beauty Award soooo I think Shani know’s what she’s doing. Needless to say this is on my Christmas list and I’m so, so excited about it.

2.) Naturium Retinol Complex Serum

Like I’m so excited.

Laura Scott is one of my favorite follows on Insta. A dermatologist and a mother of four beautiful little girls, her page is the perfect combination of great skincare tips, mothering expertise, and organizational badassery. She is wonderful and I take anything that she recommends as bible. Recently she talked about the Naturium skincare line and more importantly the Naturium Retinol Complex Serum as a budget friendly serum that helps to even out your skin tone and really works. The serum is oil-free and many of the reviewers said it reduced their fine lines and wrinkles in just a few months. Their Black Friday sale has already started so of course I’m excited. I might just get the moisturizer too!

3.) SkinMedica Age Defense Retinol .25

I can’t wait to try these!

Finally, lets talk about the SkinMedica Age Defense Retinol .25. Billed as a retinol for first time users (meeeeeee) this night time lotion is “formulated to renew the skin’s tone and texture without irritating the skin”. I saw it mentioned in a retinol roundup thread that I have, of course, conveniently lost on Twitter but I like that it is good for newbies as well as experienced users and that it has a “PhytoShield TM Complex” that will help minimize irritation to your face as you use it because sometimes my face gets spooked by new products. I think that starting with the .25% version (they have .5% and 1.0%) will allow you to ease yourself into this new routine while also really being able to see the results. Also I’m 1000 years old so anti-aging is def for me.

Okay that’s all I have for now. Am I missing something? Do y’all know of any products that work better? Have you tried these? Please let me know in the comments. Life is crazy right now and the holidays are coming up but I know that means sales and I LOVE a good sale on skincare.

PS: Drop your moisturizer recs below too boo. I am on the lookout for some more of those as well!
