On Sunday, I will have fasted for 16 hours a day for 365 days – A FULL YEAR!
I am so excited! I feel like that is such an accomplishment and I don’t see myself stopping any time soon.
I started my intermittent fasting journey in late 2019 to offset a stressful time in life and to save money at work (I worked at a college campus that had two restaurants that I loved in their dinning hall lol). I figured that fasting would help me not have too many excess calories and that it would help me be more disciplined in my eating habits. I had also read about how much it helped your body to regulate while on the Keto diet; something that I was on HEAVY at the time.
At first I just tried not to eat before 12 noon every day. Then I moved that time to 2pm, because sometimes I would eat late at night, and I thought that this would help me get my full 12 hours. I learned through my research though, that a lot of folks did the 16 hour fast and 8 hour eating window and so I wanted to try that.
When quarantine started last year I saw how quickly everyone started cooking, baking, and snacking more and I wanted to make sure that, even though I was inside, I was still being smart about my food consumption. So, I did some more research and downloaded the LIFE app. It is a community centered app that lets you see other people who are fasting and what their goals are for themselves. In the main LIFE App’s Community group there are over 365,000 members and you can scroll and connect with them on their journeys.
Honesty, I have kept to myself on the app only updating my fasts as I go but I like that everyone on there seems encouraging and fun. It is a simple way to keep yourself accountable and it is definitely low stakes for me.
If you have any questions for me leave them below. I ended up shrinking down some this summer. I at a lot of cookies during the holidays but always have done by best to stay in my window. I really like where my body is at right now and I think this combined with my aim to eat healthy will keep me healthy for a long time.
Anyways, CONGRATULATIONS TO ME! I am so excited to celebrate my feat come Sunday! Download the app or tell me about any fasting experiences that you have had. I would love to learn more!
