I have not had a super comfortable sports bra to work out in since college (honestly high school). So I have not worked out super steadily since then.
It was always hard to make sure that that my boobs weren’t flying around while trying whatever new workout routine that I had concocted and I got tired of not being able to find cute and properly functional attire. So I gave up. I gave up on trying to find a bra…and I gave up on consistently working out.
The most annoying thing about trying to find a bra is that my band is small/regular but my cup size is larger than most girls which SEVERELY limits my selection of bras to chose from. However, because I love you all (and because I want to go back to the gym and to the volleyball court so bad I can taste it), I have conducted an EXTENSIVE research campaign and found my favorite bras that I have bought or would buy if I could.
1.) For Cuteness and Color – Nike Bold Women’s High-Support Padded Underwire Sports Bra (Plus Size)
There are a number of things I love about this bra. I love the way it sits flat on her abdomen under her bust without folding. If you click through you can see this flat fit is mirrored in the back – meaning that the bra is made longer/higher to accommodate for all our little back rolls that bras give us. I love the soft moisture wicking fabric. I love the CONSISTENT thickness of the straps from front to back which means it wont pull into our shoulders a much or seem so tenuous. But most of all I love the fun colors that this bra comes in: lime, a bold purple, a soft pink, black, white, and nice gray. They have a myriad of amazing sizes but unfortunately not mine… So I had to journey on.
2.) If you’re looking to SAVE – SYROKAN Women’s Workout Sports Bra High Impact Support Bounce Control Wirefree Mesh Racerback Top
I was super excited about this one because of the double strap support and the amazing price tag. Like bras for people with larger chests are just NOT this cheap ever. The double straps were giving the two bra support that me and my fellow huge boob sisters already had to endure. Plus it is listed as a bra for high impact activities like boxing, running, and hurdles. I started getting suspicious when the sizes were listed as small to 2XL as size charts are the bane of my existence (and y’all already know I hate going to the post office). Most of the reviews I read were all for it but that and the lack of underwire scared me away. If you give it a try let me know. They also have a ton of beautiful colors.
3.) She’s Effective if Anything – ELOMI Energise Full Figure Sports Bra
I was on the fence with the bra because it is the brand that I usually buy for bras in general…so why not extend that to sports bra usage as well? Then I read the reviews and found that the girls were having a problem with the shapes that that bra made their boobs because of the separation. Think Madonna 80’s conical lol. This is not idea for me, a woman that wants to feel secure but also look sporty and cute. I didn’t get to see it in person but the fabric was also giving similar to my daily bras and not exactly sporty. Apparently it is microfiber but I was unsure so I decided to pass; even though I will say Elomi makes amazing bras that I do very much recommend. Honestly, I think I just wanted to try something different.
4.) Easily Accessible (ie: You can get it all the mall on the way to the gym) – WACOAL Brandi High Impact Underwire Sports Bra
I like the way that this bra looks. It was nice color, it has underwire and a seamless look which is always appreciated for fashion purposes. I like that it is also convertible and even though I don’t have one I have heard very good things about Wacoal brand bras. I wasn’t sure if it was good for high impact training that I wanted to do just because of how soft it looked but the girls insist it is. The only thing that stopped be from getting it is ALL of the amazing reviews the bra that I did get had.
5.) The End All Be All – Panache Ultimate High Impact Underwire Sports Bra
This is the bra I finally got. It has overwhelming reviews on all the sites that I have seen it on. It has silicone encased underwire that are not intrusive and is shaped in a way that doesn’t let you chest point out or spread out. It is convertible and has the moisture-wicking material. And even though it is not seamless the seams seem flat enough that they wont be to noticeable. I haven’t worn it to fully workout yet but I do feel supported enough that I might be able to JUST wear one bra for my next high-impact workout. The fit and amazing reviews converted me enough to buy a few more Panache bras for every day use and I am totally in love with those too. I’ll keep y’all updated.
